A good way of utilising smaller sections of wood and leather.
All the handles in the picture below are turned from Sycamore this wood takes the coloured stain really well, and hand finished with multiple coats of clear wax.
This handle received a heavy coat of stain and was then rubbed back with wire wool to create a more faded look.
A slightly different approach on this one, the lines were scraped into the stain as the layers were being built up.
This handle was coated in a yellow stain, then turned again on the lathe to show the beauty of the natural wood beneath.
This one is my favourite out of the four, it has double spirals running in alternative directions which produces the diamond shapes highlighted in red stain.I also like the balance in colour of the stain and the natural wood, with the sharp lines of the spirals.
